Title: The Metacognition Dilemma: Effort versus Efficiency

Abstract: As the world becomes fast-paced, we also tend to become quicker, and more efficient. Unfortunately, our metacognitive processes seem to also shift to less deliberate tendencies. In my talk, I will summarize the benefits of a slow metacognitive process and show that effort is a necessary ingredient for advanced metacognition. Anecdotally, I propose that the ultimate metacognitive achievement is to differentiate your self from a machine.
